Run as Administrator

If you are having trouble with DCart or DCForensics saving files, saving the DCTunes Database or files being deleted mysteriously, you may want to try configuring DCart or DCForensics to run with Administrator permissions.

There are a few methods to setup the program to run as administrator.

Right-click method: #

• Locate the program’s icon or shortcut (e.g., on the desktop, Start Menu, or in a folder). 
• Right-click the icon/shortcut. 
• If you see “Run as administrator” directly in the context menu, select it. 
• If “Run as administrator” is not directly available, look for “More” and then select “Run as administrator” from the “More” options. 
• You may be prompted by Windows Security (or UAC) to confirm the action. Click “Yes” to proceed. 

Shortcut Properties: #

You can also set a program to always run as administrator through the “Compatibility” tab in the program’s properties.

• Right Click on the Desktop Icon for DCart11 or DCForensics11
• Choose Properties
• Click on the Compatibility tab
• Select the “Run this program as an Administrator” checkbox
• Click the OK button

Exe Properties #

Similar the the method above, but starting with the programs executable instead of the shortcut.

1. Start Windows File Explorer and open the program’s location.
   • For DCart11:
     C:\Program Files (x86)\Diamond Cut Productions\DCart11
   • For DCForensics11
     C:\Program Files (x86)\Diamond Cut Productions\DCForensics11
2. Right-click the program file DCArt.exe and choose Properties.
3. In the Compatibility tab, activate the option Run this program as an administrator.
4. Click Apply, then OK.
   Note: Depending on your Windows Account Settings, you may receive a warning message. Click Continue to confirm the changes.
