Audio Mentor is designed to take you by the hand and help you restore those audio memories to their former glory, by removing clicks, pops, hiss and surface noise that has accumulated over the years. The product will guide you through the entire process...from setting the levels to eliminating the Windows file system...WMA, MP3 and CD Ripping included... From vinyl and tape to CD in minutes. You won't believe how easy it is! You never have to leave the product...It records your material, removes the noise, breathes new life into your recordings with beautiful enhancement features, and spits out a CD when you're finished! What a mentor!

Price: $59 at our online store which is located at: http://www.diamondcut.com/osc/index.php

There's a lot of stuff shoved under the hood of DC Audio Mentor. Most importantly, it features the world renowned Audio Restoration and enhancement tools found only in Diamond Cut products. These are based on the same tools used every day by the FBI, DEA and law enforcement agencies all over the world. This is serious restoration and enhancement made simple.

    DC Audio Mentor Includes:

Audio Mentor Wizard - Leave the driving to us. Our new Training Wheels Intelligent Help guides you step by step through the process...from Record or Tape to CD without ever leaving the program.

Auto-Track - You'll work on each album side throughout the process. Mentor automatically splits your file into its individual tracks.

Auto-RIAA - Using one of our Flat CTP Computer Transfer Preamps? No problem, just tell Mentor that you're using a flat preamp and it will apply the RIAA EQ curve on the way in...automatically!

CD Making - We've incorporated a slick new CD maker in Mentor that allows you to stay within our domain and never leave. Make MP3, WMA or Audio CDs with one click of a mouse! This intelligent CD maker also won't let you make a mistake. If you've got a mono file or different sampling rate by accident, our CD Maker automatically changes it to 16 bit 44.1 stereo before writing the CD.

MP3 and WMA Automation - Quickly change from MP3 or WMA to WAV and back again to load your favorite songs into your I-pod or other MP3 players.

New File System - Where the heck are my songs? For some of you, the Windows file system can be as confusing as our tax system. No longer...with Mentor, you have three folders built right into the product. You have a New file folder, an I'm Working On These Songs folder, and a Ready For CD Folder. Mentor will transfer the songs from folder to folder as you step through the process and you'll always know where your songs are. Mentor will also keep track of what work you've done on each individual file. Have you run noise reduction? Have you Enhanced? Have you added our special Final Touches? No more guessing. Mentor keeps track of everything!

Trim and Fade Windows - Need to do some quick editing? Our new Trim and Fade windows make this process easy and fast.

Restoration Product Integration - If you need to do more extensive work, simply launch DC SIX, Millennium, DC FIVE or whatever DC product you have...Mentor will bring up your chosen program with the file loaded and ready to go.

Are you using a flat Magnetic Phono Preamp? No problem, Mentor will add the RIAA EQ Curve while you're recording!

Mentor's clever use of it's own file bins means that you'll never lose songs again. If it's new to Mentor, it's in the "My Song Files" bin. If you're working on it, not only will Mentor save it in the "Working On" bin, but also keep track of what tools you've already applied to it. When it's finished and ready for CD...Mentor places it in the "Ready For CD" bin.

Once you've recorded a song in, Mentor has already split it into tracks for you automatically. You can quickly and easily "dial it in" after that at any time.

Now you can work seamlessly with MP3, WMA and CD ripping.

Hit the Record button at any time...Mentor will wait patiently until it senses audio on the input of your sound card to begin recording. When you pick up the needle, Mentor immediately shifts back into Wait mode. You never have to "nurse" the product.

      Good Question.
I was running it on a computer at uni for a while. Just checking the version, it was windows 2000 service pack 4!

      Craig/Rick?
At work I may look like I'm doing nothing, but at the cellular level I'm actually quite busy

Mentor was designed to be used on XP and tested only on that platform. Some of its features may not work on other O/s platforms, but I am not 100 % positive on that. At any rate, it may work on other platforms, it is just that we can not guarantee its performance on those since extensive testing was only done with XP.

That brings a question, Craig. Has any testing been done with Mentor with Vista? I haven't upgraded yet, and I will certainly stay put with XP, if it means that either Mentor or DC6 will not function properly.

It is my understanding that Mentor works fine with Vista. On the other hand, DC6's helpfile does not work under Vista, but everything else works fine.

Thanks for the info, Craig. It's good to know that DC6 also works with Vista... I don't think I've ever used the helpfile... I just use the manual.

                Short rant here...

I think Microsoft has done a great disservice to users by requiring vendors to redo their help files to work with Vista. People don't run operating systems; they run applications and those applications have help files. And just like we didn't go out and replace all our albums with CD's the day the starting becoming prevalent, users aren't going to go out and buy new versions of their software just because they're on Vista now.

I keep seeing on many forums that the software itself runs fine under Vista; you just can't use the help file. Well, you would think they could have programmed in some backward compatibility for old software help files. It's worked fine for many years; it doesn't make sense to break the link to "Help!".

                Okay, rant over....

We second that emotion! What a pain in the ass for everyone involved, software users and software vendors alike.

I think this is one of the "problems" Microsoft is trying to fix!
