I have seen a couple of other references to this type of noise, but so far I have not found a solution. The noise is an extended "scrap", like the sound of a snowshovel. It is in the background, but on one particular song, the song itself is very quiet, with extended sections where the music fades out and then restarts. In these sections, the scraping noise is very obvious and annoying.
I can't tell if the sound is part of the actual recording, or if it is the result of an off-balanced tone arm, or whatever. It is quite regular, I think it is exactly every revolution. Could just be a bad copy of the record.
But, I can't get rid of it. Continuous noise filter takes out too much of the rest of the song - this scrape is very wide in terms of frequency. De-esser does nothing to it, probably because it lasts so long.
Any suggestions?
