  • DC5 v.s. Millenium on older system

    Hi there,

I am using an older computer at work to digitize and clean up some old cassette recordings. I'm considering getting DC 5 over Millenium for the real time filtering and other speed enhancements. Would this older system be able to take advantage of DC5's special features?

Celeron 500 Mhz w/ 256 MB RAM, Ultra DMA 66 IDE drive 5400rpm with 512 K buffer (9.5 9.5 ms avg. seek time)

    Running Windows 98 Second Edition.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Gerhard

Your system meets the minimum system requirements which are as follows:

200 MHz Pentium or better. (Note: Real time or faster performance can be achieved on most algorithms when using platforms based on 233 MHz Intel Pentium processors, or better. Previewing multiple filters will require a faster processor.)
Diamond Cut LIVE's "live, real time feed-through" mode requires a Pentium 300 or faster.
16 bit Stereophonic Sound Card with line level inputs, or a "Digital input" Card. Real time feed through requires a full duplex sound card which can record and play at the same time.
32 Mbytes of RAM for Win98, 128Mbytes for XP. **
Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, NT 4.0 Sp3+***
A Hard Drive with enough space to accommodate your Wave files. A formula is provided to calculate the space requirement but you should have about 2.5GB free to make a full audio CD. (The program only requires about 5 Mbytes for itself)

Of course, faster is always better but your system should work. There is a demo version on the website located at www.diamondcut.com if you want to give it a test drive first to be sure.
