  • Free Update to DC8.15 Released

    Hi Folks,

We have just finished up a bug-fix release and made it available to all DC8 owners. You can download it from our website and your user name, serial number and registration code will persist. Download the Demo version here and it will be a licensed version for those who own the previous DC8x versions.

    http://www.diamondcut.com/store/inde...roducts_id=31l

    This update provides the following:

    Changes since DC8.13

    1) Fixed bug with resample function saving 8 bit files as 16 bits

    2) Fixed feature to save temp files in same directory as audio files. It was not able to be turned off.

    3) Added the ability to normalize left channel or Rigth Channel only. This appeard to work before but really did not. It would alays use the overall peak value regardless of channel.

    4) Fixed Track Spin control on the MP3 encoder dialog

    5) Fixed Spectrum analyzer when switching between files of different sample rates

    6) Fixed bug in batch editor when creating VBR mp3 files. It now uses the default settings from the preferences dialogs

    7) Fixed bug using spectral interpolate function. Some times it could crash on complex music

    8) Fixed Big Click filter bypass function

    9) Fixed bug opening an MP3 or other non-wave file from the command line

    10) Fixed bug in the click filters on mono files using solo mode. The bug would cause bad replacements in the audio

        Hi,

No, this particular update applies to DC8 only. An update to the Forensics Version will appear in the near future.

I had DC8.13 installed and it could open the DC Tunes Libary. Downloaded and ran DC8Setup814.msi without uninstalling DC8.13 first. Setup ran to completion and DC8.15 opened. DC8.15 did not remember the location of my DC Tunes Library, so I changed the appropriate preference. I then clicked on the DC Tunes Library icon on the DC8.15 toolbar. The DC Tunes Library window started to open, but then 8.15 crashed with the following exception:

Any suggestions? I really like using the DC8 playlists.

              Hi,

I am not sure why that happened. We did not see that during testing. However, you can re-create the DCTune Database by doing the following:

Got to the C drive and search for the following two file folders:

              DcTuneDb

              and

              DcTuneDb.bak

              Delte both of them.

Then, open the DCTunes and re-build the database.

                Craig,

Thank you very much for trying to help me.

I deleted the DC Tunes Library and move all of my playlists to a sub-directory.

When I opened the DC Tunes Library, I got the same exception:

                  Hi,

I recommend un-installing the DC8.15 program and then re-installing it. Something must be corrupted in the install. Your serial number, user name and registration code should persist, so you will not need to re-register it.

                    Craig,

The uninstall and reinstall worked without incident. But, I'm still getting the same exception when I try to open the DC Tunes Library. This time I did not change the DC Tune Library directory and kept the default.

                      Hi Carl,

I do not know; I have asked Rick if he has any ideas about it. I have sent him the link to this thread.

Hmm, this is strange. There were no changes to the DCTunes library files for this update.
Here is another thing to try
                        1. Start DC8 and figure out where the DCtunes library path is setup to point to.
                        2. Go to that directory and remove (or rename) DCTuneDB.xml and DCTuneDB.Bak.xml
                        3. Now try starting DC8->DCtunes again and let it rebuild the library.
                        Rick

                          Rick and Craig,

I restarted my system and all is well. DC8.15 is able to open my DC8.13 Tunes Library and playlists.

Sorry for causing you concern. Thank you for your support AND a GREAT PRODUCT!

Craig: Since I installed DC8.15 I can only see .WAV files in the directory. Why can't I see the other files, e.g. mp3 or pkf or ses?? I can see them in Windows File manager but not when I go to access the files in the directory when editing in DC8.15. Is there some control that is turned off (or on) that I need to undo. If so, I can't find it. Otherwise all is well. best, Eric
