I have a cassette recording made in the1974 with a mono recorder using ALC. Most of the time, it's fine, but when things get very quiet, the levels come up, and, since this was a pretty inexpensive recorder, associated noise increases.
Is there a way to reverse this action, or is the easiest way to deal with it just to eliminate the noise with the CNF?
It's a mix of hiss and motor/mechanical noise.
