Will removing original RIA from tape and re applying new RIA have any benifit?
These tapes are from late 50's stereo 3&3/4 IPS.

    Hi Walter,

Short answer is no. The reason is that you would be perfectly reversing an imperfect curve (that was recorded a long time ago by way of a preamp of unknown performance characteristics) and then re-creating it again perfectly which would leave you with exactly what you started out with.

    I hope that makes sense.

I have noticed that my old 3.75 ips Reel to Reel tapes of vinyl records sound better after giving them a treatment of the VVA (Virtual Valve Amplifier - - - usually in "sweet" mode) and a little treble boost (about 3 dB) using the VPA (Virtual Phono Preamplifier). I do this before the de-noising process which seems to produce the best overall results.
