Some time ago I did some work for an FBI Field Office in Michigan - nothing Quantico couldn't do with their eyes closed - but, since I was local, I could get results for them immediately. The agent would show up in the middle of the night at my residence and never leave my side until we were done (greatly simplifying chain-of-custody issues). They told me not to talk about what I was doing for them - not because it was difficult or illegal - but just to keep the bad guys from finding out their methods and local capabilities. If they were that tight lipped about the simple little things I was doing, I can imagine how they would feel broadcasting to the world the techniques they were using with DC!
