Recently, a customer complained that the EZ Clean filter needs too much fiddeling to get it to work correctly. That same customer previously tried to make the case that distorting signals is an artistic element of music. That is true, but he never seemed to understand the following:
Transfers to a computer should not have no additional global artistic distortion added before the Impulse Filters (like the Scratch and Crackle) have been implemented. Distorted transfers having an overall "smeared" response will cause problems for the algorithm in terms of discrimination.
So, please transfer your recordings with a high quality preamplifier having no "artistic" distortion added to the signal at that point in the process. Add that later of you like.
