sample rate

In DC6 I can't set the sample rate as custom,say 32000
in multifilter live mode.When I start it jumps to 48000 ?
Is this a sound card issue?
My card m audio.

It looks like a bug to me. The custom feature seems to work in the recorder. But, it is doing what you say on my system in the Multifilter Live Mode. I am still trying to nail it down.

Thanks again..I thought my sound card should be ok.
Otherwise all DC6 working well and no more.."this program needs to close" ,I got in the past.

Here is a work - around.

1. Open the Multifilter

2. Click on the Red Record button up on the toolbar

3. The record dialog box will appear.

4. Bring the recorder to "Custom"

5. Enter the value of Sampling Rate that you desire

6. Click Record and then stop so that the system takes the value

7. Click on Live Preview on the Multifilter.

8. The new customized value of sampling rate should now show and will be invoked.

I believe that you can sample at a lower frequency than 32,000 Samples per second for Short wave listening. I believe that the following bandwidths are valid and nothing will be lost if the sampling rates that I suggest are used:

1. American Broadcast: 10 KHz Max, 20 KHz Sampling Rate

2. European Broadcast: 9 KHz Max, 18 KHz Sampling Rate

3. Short Wave AM: 6 KHz Max, 12 KHz Sampling Rate

4. SSB*: Non-Reconstitued Carrier: 2.5 KHz, 5 KHz Sampling Rate

5. SSB: Re-Constituted Carrier: 5 KHz, 10 KHz Sampling Rate

6. CW**: 0.5 KHz, 1.0 KHz Sampling Rate


The reason that I list these values, is that you can increase the time that a given buffer size will provide for you based on the specific application.

*Note: SSB = Single Sideband

**Note 2: CW = Continuous Wave

Thanks again for more info.......Once set up the "work around" seems to be remembered next time dc6 loaded,so
all fine now.

(Just as an point of interest..if I use 32bit I get double speed speech live..kids like it...of course it repeats once.)

You seem to be finding all sorts of unintended features! Which one was it? 32 Bit Float (floating point) or 32 Bit Int (Integer)? I am guessing that the sound card is not designed to deal with those modes and thus it is fooling the sound card buffers in that mode thus causing that effect.

Of course, there is a speed change filter too which kids may enjoy playing with. There are two different types. "Change Speed" and "Rate Change" (Punch and Crunch) both found under the effects menu. Change Speed changes the rate and the frequency while Rate change changes the rate while holding pitch constant. The second one can produce some really humerous effects on the human voice. Punch and Crunches practical application is mostly in Forensics making it easier to transcribe a surveilance recording into text.

That's what I like about the software....
Another one, m/s live is bring up the file conversion..(with stereo input)click on L=L+R R=L-R feed thru is normal
pitch ,then click any mono dot while it's running and you
get twice pitch live,with a repeat.If you then move from a
mono dot to the stereo dot in the little square top middle,
it goes half pitch live.......
