MP3 converter recommendation

I've got someone who wants their files converted to MP3's. Does anyone have a recommendation for a converter?

CDex is what I use, even for broadcast purposes, for encoding. It's free, versitle, easy to use, reliable, light weight. Good program. I'll add my endorsement to Ralph's.

As I recall, the DC6 program was tested with the Blade, Lame, Ogg Vorbis, and Xing encoders. I do not know what their relative performance levels are, however. Please refer to the Edit/Preferences/MP3 section of DC6 for Encoder .dll installation.

Cool, thanks guys. I'll check it out, I've always liked the apps that come out of Sourceforge anyway.
